Marriott International Fiji has confirmed a FJ$75 million injection for the refurbishment of The Westin Denarau Island Resort & Spa. The enhancement will cover all 255 guestrooms, restaurant and public areas and is expected to be completed by Q1 2023.

Marriott International this week hosted its third annual Destination Pacific Islands events, which saw travel industry professionals gather with regional representatives at Sheraton Grand Sydney Hyde Park and Four Points by Sheraton Melbourne Docklands to learn about the latest offerings at the company’s hotels and resorts in Fiji, Samoa and New Caledonia.

Many hotels around Fiji are adopting a new farm-to-plate experience, creating on-site vegetable and herb gardens, for a more sustainable approach to F&B, hospitality and service for their guests. Being an archipelago of 333 islands, importing produce to Fiji can be expensive and time-consuming, but with so much lush tropical landscape in abundance, hotels are now capitalising on what Fiji naturally offers.
