Viking has confirmed the launch of a new European river journey — the 11-day Rhine & Main Explorer – flagged exclusively by LATTE last week.

A group of eight travel advisors has just returned from sailing Viking’s popular 8-day Rhine Getaway river cruise from Amsterdam to Basel. The group were among the first Australian advisors to sail with Viking since 2019 and for many, this was their first overseas trip in as many years.

The second-longest river in Central and Western Europe, the Rhine flows 1,200 kms from the white-dusted peaks of the Swiss Alps to the rainbow-hued blossoms of the Netherlands. Offering sweeping views, an array of cultures and flavours, plus a rich history that dates back to the Holy Roman Empire, the Rhine is much more than the river of princes, poets and painters – it’s the river of adventure seekers.

AmaWaterways has introduced two new wine-themed itineraries to its 2020 lineup of specialty voyages on the Main, Rhine and Moselle Rivers. Next year’s program features 67 Wine Cruises, including two new options that showcase France, Germany, Luxembourg, Switzerland and the Netherlands.
