Three weekly services from Istanbul, via Singapore, to launch from mid-March 2024
The Victorian Government has welcomed the addition of Melbourne to the global network map of Turkish Airlines, commencing from March 2024. The highly-suspected selection of Melbourne as Turkish Airlines’ first Australia gateway had been in the rumour-mill for years, but more so following an event in the Victorian capital last year.

Second Australian gateway to Australia for oneworld’s South American carrier
LATAM Airlines has resumed flights to Melbourne, Australia, following a pause of almost three and a half years due to the pandemic. Yesterday (Sunday 3 September), at 5:30 am, flight LA805 landed at Melbourne Airport with 292 passengers on board — the start of thrice weekly flights from Santiago.

Redesigned Business Lounge and Qantas Club now open
The new Qantas Domestic Business Lounge and Qantas Club at Melbourne Airport have been completely redesigned to use space more effectively, offering seats for nearly 900 customers. More than 130 additional customers can be accommodated – 40% more in the Business Lounge and 10% more in the Qantas Club.

T3 redevelopment underway
Virgin Australia has commenced construction of a massive overhaul of its domestic terminal at Melbourne Airport’s Terminal 3 (T3). Effective immediately, Virgin Australia’s check-in kiosks will gradually be replaced and installed with new software, allowing passengers to quickly check-in, print boarding passes and baggage tags. New service pods and service desks will also be installed.
