Construction has been begun on Regent Kyoto, with a ground-breaking ceremony held by IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG) and GI Capital Management to mark the milestone.

Banyan Group says it will open the doors to Banyan Tree Higashiyama Kyoto in the third quarter of 2024, marking the entry of the Banyan Tree brand in Japan. Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas has revealed plans to open its first property in Japan in 2024. Six Senses Kyoto will be an urban sanctuary set in front of the Myoho-in temple and Tokyokuni-Jinja shrine and within walking distance of the Gion district.

Hilton has revealed its first LXR Hotels & Resorts property in Asia-Pacific will be Roku Kyoto, LXR Hotels & Resorts. The opening date for HOTEL THE MITSUI KYOTO has been set for 3 November 2020, with reservations for the luxury property now open.

Aman has announced its third Japanese destination, Aman Kyoto, will be opening its doors on 1 November, 2019.
