South Africa’s iconic rail service plans full schedule restart from 1 November
South Africa’s luxurious rail service, The Blue Train, is set to resume private charter services this month and will restart leisure travel and a full schedule from 1 November 2020, dependent on further pronouncements from the government. The move comes as the country moves to alert Level 2 in response to the pandemic.

Kruger Shalati will feature 24 permanently fixed train carriage rooms
An unused historic railway bridge that crosses the Sabie River and a nearby former train station in South Africa are being converted into a unique luxury accommodation. Located near the Skukuza Rest Camp, the bridge itself will be used as the permanent base for a newly refurbished train that is “reminiscent of African excellence”.

New cookery classes for guests created by acclaimed chef Liam Tomlin
Singita has been taking its gourmet offering to the next level with a series of epicurean additions across all of its properties throughout 2018. Guests of Singita Lebombo and Singita Sweni Lodges in the Kruger National Park are now treated to a new cooking demonstration studio at Singita Lebombo, where they can recreate acclaimed chef Liam Tomlin’s dishes with brand-new cooking classes and visit the overhauled and now internationally recognised Singita Community Culinary School.

New additions for Kruger National Park safari lodge
The lodge, which has played host to a bevy of Hollywood actors, pop stars, royals and presidents since it first opened in 1999, is located in the Greater Kruger National Park and accommodates a maximum of 20 guests in only eight one- to six-bedroom villas in the utmost colonial splendour and privacy.
