After an extensive, years-long restoration, Waldorf Astoria New York has reopened its doors, marking a “renaissance” for Hilton’s legendary luxury brand.

The completion of work on the iconic Victorian building at the historic Hotel del Coronado, on San Diego’s Coronado Island, marks the final phase in Blackstone Real Estate’s more than US$550 million transformation of the legendary resort.

With recent openings in Paris, Cape Town, Dallas, Osaka, Costa Rica, Jordan, and more, Hilton’s luxury and lifestyle brands have opened their 1,000th hotel globally. This milestone follows a record year of growth for Hilton, punctuated by strategic partnerships, acquisitions and nearly 100,000 rooms added to Hilton’s portfolio.

NoMad Hotels will re-enter the US market in Detroit, following an agreement with Ford Motor Company to open a nearly 180-guest room hotel. The hotel will be housed within The Station at Michigan Central, a 30-acre tech and cultural hub. This is part of an ambitious effort to revitalise Detroit’s historic, once-abandoned passenger rail station.

The grand opening of Sax Paris, in the prestigious 7th arrondissement, marks the debut of Hilton’s LXR Hotels & Resorts brand in France and the hotel giant’s first luxury hotel in the heart of the City of Light.

Hilton officially marked 50 years in Australasia with a milestone celebration on Wednesday night at Hilton Sydney, the brand’s oldest standing hotel in the region and one of its most enduring icons.

Grand Wailea, a Waldorf Astoria Resort in Maui is now home to Chef Nobu Matsuhisa’s world-renowned Japanese cuisine, with the opening of the acclaimed Nobu restaurant. Chef Nobu, Robert De Niro and Meir Teper’s restaurant empire has also extened to San Diego, with the opening of another restaurant at Hotel del Coronado.

Hilton will open a NoMad hotel in Singapore, marking its foray into the fast-growing luxury lifestyle segment in Asia Pacific. The debut joins NoMad London which opened in 2021 to international acclaim.

Luxury hotel brand, Waldorf Astoria, is entering the cruising sector. The latest ultra-luxury hospitality brand to do so, joining the likes of The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, Four Seasons, Aman and Orient-Express.
