Explora Journeys this evening celebrated the naming ceremony of its first of six ultra-luxury ships, EXPLORA I, in New York City. Among the festivities, Godmother Dr Sylvia Earle christened the ships and was welcomed into the wide MSC Group family by the company.

Explora Journeys has confirmed Dr. Sylvia Earle, the world-renowned oceanographer, explorer, and conservationist, will be the Godmother of its first ship, EXPLORA I. Just a few weeks ago, Dr. Earle christened her namesake expedition ship, that of Aurora Expeditions’ Sylvia Earle.

Aurora Expeditions has confirmed its new – and second – purpose-built expedition ship, Sylvia Earle, will make its debut voyage on the Subantarctic Safari from 4-20 November 2022. The ship will be christened by its namesake, renowned marine biologist, oceanographer and explorer Dr. Sylvia Earle, prior to making its way to the wildlife havens of South Georgia and the Falkland Islands.
