The final Women In Tourism leadership lunch for the year has been declared a success, with ladies from the tourism, travel and events industry gathering on Friday 30 September at View by Sydney Walsh Bay to discuss the theme ‘Mentors and Masterminds’.
Overseeing the discussion were three special guests: Suzi Dafnis, founder of the Australian Businesswomen’s Network; Penny Spencer, Owner and Managing Director of Spencer Travel and Founder and Chair of TIME Travel Industry Mentor Experience; and Lyndel Gray, CEO at Caravan and Camping Industry Association NSW.
The mentor/mentee relationship was at the heart of the inspiring exchange, answering questions about the benefits to both parties, as well as the basics of whether you need one and how to find one.
“Napoleon Hill wrote about Mastermind Groups around 75 years ago with his book, Think and Grow Rich, however the concept is relatively new to many, especially here in Australia,” said Holly Galbraith, Co-Founder of the Women in Tourism Leadership events.
“The concept of a mastermind group is to drawn on a range of experiences to tackle business or personal related challenges and today many leaders and entrepreneurs link their success to participating in a Mastermind Group,” she said.
Complementing the discussions were the water views of Walsh Bay, and a two-course menu of either pan-roasted chicken on thyme and pumpkin mash or seared salmon with saffron and red pepper sauce, and chocolate fondant or mango pannacotta, accompanied by Taltarni T-Series wines.
