Anantara has unveiled the newly renovated Over Water Suites at Anantara Dhigu Maldives Resort, blending innovative design and authentic luxury.

Set across 20,000sqm of tropical paradise encompassed by Maldivian blue lagoons, Anantara Dhigu comprises 110 deluxe villas and suites on a secluded island in the South Male Atoll. The island is reached from the airport by either a picturesque 35-minute speedboat ride or a memorable seaplane journey over the crystal-clear waters.

Boutique interior design firm, The Beaumont Partnership, has redesigned the 132sqm Over Water Suites to enhance the space available while complementing local tradition and heritage. From the natural rattan decorative panels and Italian ceramic tiling to the custom outdoor lanterns, every detail has been considered for the pleasure and convenience of Anantara guests. Travellers are offered the opportunity to choose between Sunset Over Water Suites, Sunrise Over Water Suites or Over Water Pool Suites to tailor their holiday escape to their preference.

“The new renovation blends innovative design with the authentic luxury our guests are used to,” said GM Coetzer Deysel. “The viewing panels in the bathroom floor provide a window to the wealth of marine life native to the Maldives.”

Natural light abounds in each of the suite types, with floor-to-ceiling windows allowing the vast expanse of dazzling turquoise sea to be admired from the comfort of the plush king-size beds. The warm ocean breeze can be enjoyed on private sun terraces or refreshment sought by a dip in the deep lagoon directly from the wooden deck.

The three differing types of suites contain a variety of distinctive touches added in the renovation including free standing bathtubs, Grohe rain showers and wood shingle roofing along with extra indulgences such as an outdoor rinse shower, iPod docking stations and Nespresso coffee machines.

Discerning guests can choose their inspiration, whether it be waking up to a dazzling vista of endless ocean in a Sunrise Suite or soaking up the colours at sundown in a Sunset Suite. Alternatively, visitors can select one of the six Over Water Pool Suites where they can bathe in the serenity of their own 15sqm infinity pool.

In addition to structural remodelling for more natural light and a greater sense of space, other highlights of all 40 (19 Sunset, 15 Sunrise and six Pool) suites include an outdoor sun terrace with sun loungers, sun umbrella daybed and al fresco dining table. A ladder from each deck gives guests direct access to the crystal waters of the lagoon and the colourful reef marine life that surrounds. Within each suite itself, the double vanity bathroom offers mesmerising vistas of the oceans so guests can literally soak in the view.

The work of international artist Christopher Hogan, Former Artist-in-Residence, decorated each private sanctuary accentuating the elegant aesthetics of the suites with abstractions of the reef and its shimmering palette.

With the revamp of the Over Water Suites, Anantara Dhigu invites guests to delight in the enhanced luxury the resort provides. Indulge in the romance of one of these lavish cocoons, enjoy dining over the azure Indian Ocean under twinkling night skies or partake in traditional Maldivian activities on the nearby islands or the capital of Male.
