Singapore Airlines has celebrated 35 years of service to Brisbane by announcing it will covert its four daily flights to/from Singapore to be an entirely Airbus A350-900 aircraft operation, from Wednesday 1 May 2019.
The move will also see Brisbane become the only destination in the Singapore Airlines global network to have multiple daily flights all operated by the A350 aircraft type.
Singapore Airlines Regional Vice President South West Pacific, Mr Philip Goh, said the deployment of the all-A350 operation to Brisbane highlighted the airline’s commitment to the Queensland market.
“For 35 years we have proudly served Brisbane, and over that time it has grown to become a highly valuable and very important destination in our network,” Mr Goh said.
“We have continued to invest in our services since launching in 1984, and today’s announcement reinforces our longstanding commitment to Brisbane.
“Over the past few months we have added new A350s to the route and the deployment of this fourth A350 will complete an 11% increase in seat capacity for the route.
“The deployment of a fourth A350 on 1 May will also deliver our customers an unparalleled level of product consistency as well as the ability to experience and enjoy one of the most modern and technologically advanced aircraft in the sky.
“ an experience I am confident they will embrace and enjoy.”
The fourth A350 aircraft will operate as flight SQ265/266 and will be the third medium-haul A350 deployed to Brisbane, with SQ255/236 set to become the second A350-900 medium-haul operating on the Singapore-Brisbane route from Sunday 31 March.
The introduction of a fourth A350-900 will also see Brisbane offer Business Class customers a lie-flat product on all four of its daily flights.
The A350-900 medium-haul aircraft is equipped with the airline’s recently launched medium-haul Business Class and Economy Class cabin products and features 40 seats in Business Class and 263 seats in Economy Class.
The Business Class cabin boasts a 1-2-1 seat arrangement, providing every customer with direct aisle access, while the Economy Class cabin will be arranged in a 3-3-3 configuration.

The A350-900 features higher ceilings, larger windows, an extra wide body delivering more space and comfort as well as lighting designed to reduce jetlag.
Singapore Airlines ordered a total of 67 Airbus A350-900 aircraft, 31 of which are already in the fleet.
