iExpedition beat some of Australia’s top tourism competitors to take home the highly coveted Transfers and Tourism award for the second consecutive year at the 25th Sunshine Coast Business Awards earlier this month.
Despite having entered the competitive tourism industry just two years ago, iExpedition is connected to some of the world’s leading expedition vessel operators, travel agents and sought-after guides. Fostering relationships, coupled with attentive customer service, has resulted in iExpedition’s evolution, from garage start-up to the country’s top cruising expedition specialist.
“We couldn’t have done this without our phenomenal team, our magnificent and supportive client base and, of course, our highly valued adventurers who, together, all consistently step out of their comfort zones to deliver – and embark on – expeditions to some of the most remote corners on earth,” said iExpedition founder, Ben Alexander.
Building on its relationships, iExpedition – renowned as one of Australia’s top polar expedition specialists – decided to dip its toes into warmer waters this year and launched its first series of small-ship expedition cruises outside of the polar realms. New destinations include Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, the Caribbean and Latin America, the Pacific and the Galapagos Islands.
“Our fleet of expedition vessels travel the world in between the polar seasons, winding their way along some of the earth’s most magnificent tropical coastlines and colourful remote waters, so it made sense for us to take this exciting step,” says Alexander.
“Our guests have a true sense of adventure and their desire to get off the beaten track to explore the world’s farthest reaches, sans the crowds and queues, is infectious. Now we have the ability to make expeditions to their dream destinations, both in the warmer and cooler climates, come true.”
Over the course of 2019, iExpedition has helped guests achieve their dream adventures to both the polar realms and tropical climates. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Snorkelling with orca whales in Norway
- Searching for polar bears in the European and Russian Arctic regions
- Standing on top of the world in the North Pole
- Setting foot on the White Continent, Antarctica
- Exploring Australia’s famed Kimberley
- Spotting Komodo Dragons in Indonesia
- Scuba diving in world-renowned areas like Raja Ampat and the Galapagos Islands
