Ship Inn Stanley in Tasmania’s North West has recently expanded its inventory, capitalising on the regional tourism boom.

Local owners Kerry and Alastair Houston have introduced a new high-end apartment designed as a spacious retreat for two at the 1849 boutique guest house.

This hideaway on the second storey of the inn tells the story of the bond store belonging to the Van Diemen’s Land Company, explains Kerry Houston.

“The apartment has a beautiful view of the store itself – a place that has long held local secrets, stories and promises. Time spent here will quickly take your thoughts away from the every day and lose them in the myriad of challenges that the early settlers faced.”

Like all suites at the property, The Van Diemen’s Apartment is bathed in timeless elegance, featuring historical artefacts, original artwork and custom fittings.
