Viking has added a new 2024 sailing date of its Malta, Morocco & the Mediterranean voyage. The inaugural 2024 season of the itinerary sold out within weeks of launching in April, making it one of Viking’s most successful to date. The new departure on 19 December 2024 will be on board Viking’s newest ocean ship, Viking Vela.
The 16-day Barcelona round trip follows the ancient route of mariners across the Mediterranean, Balearic, and Alboran Seas, exploring the historic sites of the French Riviera, neo-Moorish North Africa, and the treasures of Andalucia.
The itinerary includes visits to seven countries with nine shore excursions and 10 ports of call visiting the Andalucian, Baltic and Moorish destinations of Barcelona, Marseille and Rome and the exciting new Viking destinations of Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco.

“When we launched this itinerary in April its popularity quickly exceeded our wildest expectations becoming one of Viking’s fastest-ever-selling itineraries. We are really happy to offer this extra departure date to accommodate more guests for this exciting and culturally rich journey,” said Michelle Black, ANZ Managing Director Viking.
“But, with only one additional departure to add, it does mean that availability is very limited, and we are confident that this itinerary will sell out again in record time,” added Black.
Viking’s Malta, Morocco and the Mediterranean voyage is priced from $12,995 per person with flight credit up to $2,500 per couple*.
The itinerary visits nine countries and traces the routes of centuries-old mariners, visiting Marseille and Corsica, the birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte, France’s great emperor. Highlights include the UNESCO city of Valletta and the North African cities of Algiers, Tunis and Casablanca.
