Monte-Carlo Opera

The jewel in the crown of the Casino de Monte-Carlo is a reflection of the Principality’s rich history. The biggest stars of opera and theatre have performed there in succession since the Salle Garnier was built. This year’s season gets under way on 2 November with Verdi’s magnificent Requiem, orchestrated by the celebrated conductor Daniel Barenboim.
Highlights of the season include four operas, among them Verdi’s Don Carlo in November, and the The Phantom of the Opera arriving in time for the festive season!
The Ballets de Monte-Carlo

The Ballets de Monte-Carlo was founded in 1985 thanks to the efforts of H.R.H. Princess Caroline of Hanover to continue the long tradition of dance in Monaco and the Ballets Russes. The arrival of choreographer Jean-Christophe Maillot in 1993 led to the company gaining prominence on the international stage. Today, the 50 dancers, who spend more than 200 days a year on tour, act as key cultural ambassadors for the Principality.
The Monaco Dance Forum

Since 2000, the Monaco Dance Forum, under the umbrella of Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo, is a multi- format international dance festival. In addition to performances by the biggest names in dance, the Monaco Dance Forum offers workshops, masterclasses, exhibitions, symposiums and conferences in the field.

Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra

Since 1856 – when it was known as the “Orchestre du nouveau cercle des étrangers” – the Orchestra has occupied a special place on the international musical stage. Puccini, Ravel, Massenet, Fauré… countless world premieres have been presented in Monte-Carlo over the last almost 150 years. The coming year promises a diverse programme including symphonic concerts, recitals, tribute concerts, and musical ‘happy hour’ performances. The institution will be presenting a series of five concerts in tribute to Rachmaninov, as well as four “Mozart in Monaco” dates.
Theatre Princesse Grace

Keen to revive theatre in the Principality, Princess Grace was behind the effort to restore the Théâtre des Beaux-Art which, in its time, hosted some of France’s greatest singers, such as Edith Piaf. The Princess completely redesigned the theatre’s interior, as well as the acoustics and the facilities for actors. Today, the Théâtre Princesse Grace is a renowned and highly regarded venue which contributes to the Principality’s cultural influence.
