Crystal has confirmed the cancellation of Crystal Symphony‘s upcoming voyage from Mumbai to Piraeus (Athens) via the Red Sea on 27 March 2024 due to security concerns in that region.

“In light of the current situation in the Red Sea, Crystal remains committed to prioritising the safety and well-being of our guests and crew,” the cruise line said. “Due to the ongoing situation, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2024 cruise from Mumbai to Piraeus (Athens) on Crystal Symphony March 27 to April 13.”

That itinerary includes the planned Crystal Chairman’s Cruise between Jeddah and Rhodes (2-8 April 2024), a departure on which Manfredi Lefebvre, A&K Travel Group Executive Chairman and Geoffrey Kent, Founder & Chairman Emeritus of Abercrombie & Kent, were scheduled to co-host.

Crystal Symphony is then scheduled to operate a 12-night roundtrip voyage from Pireaus on 13 April to the Greek Islands and to Istanbul and Kusadasi in Turkey.

Further, Crystal is re-routing “several segments” of the 2024 World Cruise aboard Crystal Serenity (that set off in January) to avoid the Red Sea.

The cruise line emphasised that the itinerary adjustment “will not affect the overall voyage length”, being 125 days, and that Serenity “will arrive in Miami as originally scheduled on 8 June 2024.”
