As Delta Air Lines prepares to mark 100 years of flying, the airline has unveiled a nose-to-tail cabin transformation designed to reflect the changing lifestyles of its customers.

The new interior design will debut aboard its narrowbody Boeing 757 aircraft that will selected domestic and short haul international routes this year. This will be followed by its introduction on its widebody Airbus A350 in early 2025.

“Delta has a 100-year history of creating a customer experience that feels welcoming and thoughtful with intentional design elements woven into every aspect of a customer’s travel,” VP Customer Experience Design Mauricio Parise said.

“As we embark on our next century of flying, this refreshed cabin interior infuses utility with beauty to create an atmosphere that feels fresh, elevated, and timeless while reflecting our customers’ evolving tastes and expectations.”

Based on extensive research, the modern new look aims to create a homely feel while incorporating fresh seating materials, enhanced lighting and a refreshed colour palette.

Lighting plays a major part of the refresh, with warm and inviting lighting for the boarding process, candlelight hues for mealtimes and the warm amber glow of sunset for sleeping.

“Every flight is different, so we’ve focused on creating warm, calming and atmospheric lighting options that create an environment for customers to rest and relax, or stay productive as they wish,” Parise said.

The airline has also reimagined its use of its brand colours opting for softer shades and greater use of natural materials such as wool.

“Delta has taken the time to develop every detail of our new interiors; the team was intentional in creating an experience that mimics our customers’ lifestyles and puts them at ease as soon as they board our aircraft,” concluded Parise.

“We look forward to sharing our hard work with our customers and welcoming them onboard.”

The new design will be rolled out across the entire fleet over the next few years.
