Singapore’s historic Hotel Fort Canning will reemerge from a major transformation next year as METT Singapore, following a change in management that will see Dubai-based Sunset Hotels & Resorts take the reins.

The rebranded property will open as METT Singapore by Q3 2025, following a complete renovation which will see SHG’s signature venues, including beach clubs, restaurants, and nightlife options, added to the mix.

Jaime Buxo Clos, CEO of Sunset Hotels and Resorts described the property as a “cultural icon”.

“By transforming it into METT Singapore, we are creating a property that honours its heritage while infusing it with the modern, lifestyle touch that the METT brand is known for,” he said.

The new addition will join the company’s existing portfolio of three METT properties located in Marbella, Barcelona and Bodrum.

It represents the latest phase of its expansion into South Asia for Sunset Hotels & Resorts’ parent company Sunset Hospitality Group (SHG), following its June launch of SUSHISAMBA Singapore in Capital Tower.

“The transformation of Hotel Fort Canning into METT Singapore reflects our commitment to expanding in key global markets while staying true to the cultural and historical roots of each location,” Antonio Gonzalez, CEO, SHG Chairman and Group said.

This development follows SHG’s August acquisition of Maximal Concepts, a prominent player in the Asian hospitality market.
