Thailand continues to be an area of focus for IHG Hotels & Resorts, with the signing of the Intercontinental Phang-Nga Bay Resort which is set to open in 2028.
Located in Samet Nangshe, the 150-key property will offer guests views of Phang-Nga Bay, one of Thailand’s most renowned national parks thanks to its limestone peaks and sweeping panoramas.
The management agreement between IHG and first-time partner Plaipol is the latest signing by IHG in the country where it already operates 39 hotels, of which 15 are resort properties.
“This continues our great tradition in this wonderful country, where we have 39 hotels and approaching 10,000 rooms, and a growing pipeline of 33 properties, giving us another 7,000 rooms – with even more to come,” IHG SVP & MD East Asia & Pacific Rajit Sukumaran said.
“It’s fantastic that our beloved InterContinental Hotels & Resorts brand remains an iconic global symbol of sophistication and worldliness nearly eight decades after its launch. Globally, we have 226 open InterContinental hotels across more than 60 countries, backed up by a pipeline of 97 properties – representing growth equivalent to 43% of the brand’s system size.”

The growth is supported by InterContinental’s recent global brand evolution, he added.
Aphicha Sinthuchat, Managing Director, Plaipol said IHG was the ideal choice for the destination resort.
“I have wonderful memories of staying at InterContinental properties around the world and can’t think of a better brand for our first foray into hospitality, and support tourism growth in the region,” he said. “I look forward to welcoming guests at InterContinental Phang-Nga Bay Resort and providing them with unforgettable stays, much like the ones I’ve had.”
The signing represents the latest development for the hotel brand in Thailand, following recent openings including InterContinental Bangkok, InterContinental Khao Yai Resort, InterContinental Chiang Mai The Mae Ping and InterContinental Bangkok Sukhumvit.
