The accommodation options currently on offer at Tasmanian luxury lodge Saffire Freycinet will be expanded in 2026 with the addition of a new three-bedroom villa.

Saffire Villa will cater to rising demand for exclusive and intimate group travel experiences, according to the luxury lodge’s developer and operator Federal Group.

Work is expected to begin in mid-2025, ahead of a planned Southern Hemisphere springtime opening in 2026.

Greg Farrell, Managing Director of Federal Group said the project has been a long time in the making.

“For years, our returning guests who have loved their stay at Saffire have been bringing their friends and family along to experience this special place on the east coast of Tasmania, and they’ve shared that this kind of exclusive luxury villa that also delivers all the benefits of staying at a luxury lodge is the ideal combination,” he said.

“We’ve been delighted to have our loyal and engaged community of guests highly involved in the concept, design and refinement of ongoing plans for the Saffire Villa.”

Created by design firm Atlis Architecture, the property will feature furniture, soft furnishing and fittings from Tasmanian suppliers. Positioned high on the escarpment on the northwestern side of the existing property, Saffire Villa will offer sweeping views of Great Oyster Bay and the Hazards mountains.

Set apart from the existing 16 suites, it will accommodate up to six adults as well as children making it ideal for multi-generational families, corporate retreats or small groups.

In addition to the villa’s dedicated features such as a private heated pool, outdoor spa bath and fireplace entertainment space, guests will also have full access to the main lodge with its restaurant, bar, gardens and spa, as well as its range of guided experiences around the Freycinet Peninsula.

Farrell confirmed that bookings for Saffire Villa would open around six months prior to its launch. The villa can be booked on an exclusive use basis only, with rates estimated to start from AU$10,000 per night, all-inclusive.

Saffire Freycinet is a member of the Luxury Lodges of Australia.
