Kid-free value key to Virgin Voyages’ record revenue, says CEO

Revenue has surged by 60% for the year to date, with the Black Friday period up 300%

This year has seen Virgin Voyages revenue surge by a whopping 60% to a new annual record, with Black Friday delivering its best booking day to date.

Sales over the Black Friday period shot up by 300% compared with last year’s sale period both in terms of bookings and revenue.

“We are so grateful for the support that we’re seeing from our loyal customers and travel advisor community and their passion for the award-winning, kid-free experiences we have created and built from scratch together,” CEO Nirmal Saverimuttu said.

“In an environment where value is disappearing and travellers are feeling the pinch of changes from others, we are doubling down on being an incredible value for sailors. We’re committed to sticking to our roots and not nickel and diming our sailors, before, during, or after their voyage with us.”

A bright outlook lies ahead with the cruise line projecting a 50% increase in 2025 on this year’s record result. The year will see the launch of Brilliant Lady, longer itineraries, new home ports, the refresh of Scarlet Lady and the roll-out of new dining options such as Lucky Lotus.

“We continue to see really strong repeat cruisers – up to 60% on some voyages – but are also breaking through to new audiences with more than 70% of our Black Friday and Cyber Monday bookings coming from Sailors new to the brand, with a significant number being new to cruise,” Saverimuttu said.

“We believe this really shows the power and appeal of a kid-free holiday, a position in the travel industry where Virgin Voyages is also fast becoming the brand of choice for adult-only holidays.”
