Boutique hotel platform Mr & Mrs Smith has revealed its top performing hotels in 2024, with a Thailand property coming out on top in terms of bookings through the trade.

The Slate in Phuket was the hotel most booked by the platform’s travel agent partners over the course of the year, Chief Growth Officer Elise Tagatac revealed.

The hotel most booked by the site’s members (it has more than a million) was Grand Joanne in Copenhagen, described as a “star performer since launching in March” whereas Le Wallace Hôtel & Bar in Paris’ 15th arrondissement came out on top for members of Hyatt’s loyalty scheme World of Hyatt. Hyatt acquired Mr & Mrs Smith in June 2023.

The biggest booking of the year was snapped up by NIHI Sumba, with its Mamole Treehouse. “This one-of-a-kind experience – featuring three luxurious villas nestled in the lish junglr and connected by enchanting raised walkways – was our most extravagant reservation of 2024,” Tagatac said.

When it came to romance, the hotel that proved most popular with honeymooners was Madikwe Safari Lodge, set among the bushlands and savannah of South Africa’s Madikwe Game Reserve.

Meanwhile, the hotels with the most five-star ratings both hailed from the UK, with The Harper Hotel in Norfolk and Bath Arms Hotel at Longleat tying in first place.

“Looking ahead to 2025, Paris, Barcelona, Marrakech, Porto, London, Seville, Florence, Lisbon, and Copenhagen are leading the charge for pre-planned city escapes,” Tagatac revealed.
