Alila makes regional debut with rebadging of Mayan Riviera Andaz

Alila Mayakoba will be the brand’s first property in Latin America and the Caribbean

A significant transformation of the Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya will see the hotel reemerge as Alila Mayakoba, marking the Alila brand’s debut in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Operations at the Andaz resort will cease on 2 March 2025, with the rebranding expected to take place later in the year.

In line with Alila’s emphasis on sustainability, wellness, and immersive experiences, the renovation will have minimal impact on the surrounding environment, with the property situated within 148 acres of mangrove.

“The planned transformation of this beloved resort into a magnificent Alila Mayakoba will inspire guests and ignite curiosity, incorporating local traditions into the guest experience with thoughtful conservation practices that make a positive impact, allowing guests the ability to be involved in the preservation of Mayakoba,” Hyatt Group President Americas Pete Sears said.

“As the first Alila branded hotel in Latin America and the Caribbean, we are proud to soon introduce a new level of luxury, sustainability and impactful wellbeing that inspires guests to interact with the local community and truly immerse themselves in an authentic experience.”

The new Alila Mayakoba will offer guests a sanctuary rooted in nature, blending modern luxury with an ecological commitment. Its design will highlight the area’s distinct water canals and reflect the ancient Mayan reverence for nature.

Meanwhile, Luis Duran, CEO of RLH Properties, expressed excitement for the collaboration. “Alila Mayakoba will be a testament of our deep respect for the community, allowing guests to connect with our protected ecosystems on a deeper level” he said.

The number of rooms will be reduced with suites to now make up 40% of the resort’s room inventory. The wellness-focused accommodation will feature a variety of experiences aimed at promoting physical, mental, and spiritual health. These include new wellness spaces, a spa, and a traditional Temazcal.

Culinary offerings will include a curated coffee shop, multiple restaurants, and a beach club with a focus on locally inspired, garden-to-table dining.
