Rosewood expansion continues with Rosewood Mandarina opening

The hotel firm’s fourth Mexican property is now welcoming guests

The opening of the hotly anticipated Rosewood Mandarina represents the beginning of a “new era of luxury” in Mexico, according to Rosewood Hotels and Resorts.

Nearly a decade in the making, this all-suite sanctuary is owned by developer RLH Properties. It represents Rosewood’s fourth property in Mexico and is a “landmark opening” for the brand’s portfolio.

“The opening of Rosewood Mandarina represents Rosewood Hotels & Resorts’ continued approach to thoughtful growth, where each location is carefully selected to include some of the world’s most magical destinations,” Rosewood President Radha Arora said.

“Our fourth opening in Mexico, Rosewood Mandarina embodies the unique spirit of its surroundings—fostering exploration and togetherness while keeping our impact at the forefront.”

Set on the Riviera Nayit amid nearly 200 miles of pristine Pacific coastline, the resort brings together three different ecosystems and aims to convey an ancient harmony with the natural world while fostering meaningful exploration of the local surroundings and community, but also of the self.

Each of the 134 ultra-luxurious accommodations – including three specialty suites and two expansive standalone villas – offers a private plunge pool, expansive terraces, and bespoke design elements crafted in collaboration with local artisans to honour the region’s rich heritage.

The pinnacle of its luxury offering is the Canalan Beachfront Villa and the Cora Four Bedroom Mountaintop Villa which provide abundant space, privacy, and breathtaking views, complete with infinity pools.

Curated experiences as part of the Mandarina development include surfing and ziplining to horseback riding and polo matches at the Mandarina Equestrian Club, while the Mandarina Golf Club opened on 1 April.A “gastronomic journey” is also being served up to guests with regional flavours celebrated across multiple dining venues from soulful Mexican fare at La Cocina to Spanish cuisine on the beach at Buena Onda.

Later this year, the resort will launch elegant Japanese fine-dining restaurant Toppu at the top of the mountain, as well as craft cocktail hangout Barra Peñasco.

The property also features four serene oceanfront pools, state-of-the-art fitness centre, and signature Asaya Spa while children can engage in enriching, destination-inspired programming at Rosewood Explorers kids’ club.

Rosewood Mandarina’s design, led by Caroline Meersseman of Bando x Seidel Meersseman, merges modern luxury with the property’s natural surroundings. Furnishings and decorative elements celebrate the artistry of the region’s Indigenous Huichol and Cora peoples, incorporating traditional techniques and styles.
