It represents an important milestone for the Bangkok-headquartered IHG brand

Set to open in 2028, Six Senses Bangkok will be set on the site of the historic Narai Hotel in Silom, representing an important milestone for the Bangkok-headquartered IHG brand.

Speaking to media at International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM) Asia Pacific in Singapore earlier this week, Vice President of Global Luxury Brands at IHG Hotels & Resorts Tom Rowntree highlighted the new property as a crucial milestone for the brand, which was acquired by IHG in 2019. “This is incredibly important for us, as Six Senses’ home city, and also for IHG,” he said.

“The lead-in room size is 58 square metres, which means one of the largest entry-level room sizes in Bangkok. And we’ll have an incredible penthouse suite of 700 square metres, which we designed by Joyce Wang. This hotel, which is showing up, will be a true new landmark for Bangkok.”

Six Senses has signed a hotel management agreement with Narai Hospitality Group to launch the property as part of Hatai, a visionary mixed-use development on the Silom location. First opened in 1968, Narai Hotel became “a trailblazer in Thailand’s hospitality story,” and was known as “a grand gathering place that shaped Silom’s skyline and set the scene for its thriving business and social district.”

Reimagined as Six Senses Bangkok, it will offer around 100 guest rooms and suites as “a peaceful retreat from the city’s energy,” surrounded by holistic wellness facilities, intuitive service, and sustainable architecture. The entire development is targeting LEED Gold and WELL Gold certifications, with heritage elements such as Narai Hotel’s original wooden foundation carefully preserved and repurposed.

Designed by Heatherwick Studio, the project will transform the district into Bangkok’s new lantern quarter, inspired by traditional craftsmanship and emphasising community and cultural renewal.

“Together with Narai Hospitality Group, we’re creating something truly special,” said Neil Palmer, COO of Six Senses. “A place that respects its history while embracing pioneering wellness, crafted experiences, and sustainable design and operations.”

Interior design by BAR Studio, along with a sky garden, biophilic elements, and a rooftop pool, will define the urban sanctuary. Guests can explore Six Senses Spa Bangkok, offering everything from “breath work” and facial yoga to wellness consultations.

Opening just after the original hotel’s 60th anniversary, Six Senses Bangkok promises to be a “fitting continuation of the legacy”, according to the hospitality firm.
