Meliá Hotels International‘s first luxury hotel in Peru, The Meliá Collection Lima, will start welcoming guests in July 2026, as the hospitality giant expands its footprint in Latin America.
Located in the heart of Lima’s historic centre on the historic Casa de la Pila site, the boutique hotel represents another step forward in the company’s plan to strengthen its luxury presence in the world’s top destinations.
Opening in two phases, the hotel will open 61 rooms to guests from July 2026, with the second phase of opening in July 2027 to expand its tally to 107 rooms.
“The signing of The Meliá Collection in Lima is another step in our growth strategy in Latin America, focusing on destinations with strong tourism potential like the Peruvian capital,” Meliá Hotels International Chairman and CEO Gabriel Escarrer Jaume said.
“We’re proud to grow alongside local partners who share our vision and are committed to delivering top-tier experiences and quality tourism.”

Situated near iconic landmarks such as the Plaza de Armas, Lima Cathedral and the Government Palace, The Meliá Collection Lima promises an “authentic luxury experience deeply rooted in the city’s history and identity.” The site, known historically as Casa de la Pila, holds deep cultural significance. Once home to the Thalia Club and the birthplace of El Comercio newspaper in 1839, the location was long regarded as a hub for Lima’s intellectual elite.
Maintaining the hotel’s rich past will be a critical focus of the project with its transformation to be guided by renowned restorer Cirilo Bernui Tafur. It will also feature a unique cultural program designed to immerse guests in Lima’s rich artistic, culinary and historical traditions.
The project has received special support from PROMPERÚ, the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Export and Tourism.
“One of our missions is to attract business investments to strategic sectors of our economy, such as tourism,” Daniel Córdova, Director of Business Investment Promotion at PROMPERÚ, said.
“We’re delighted to have collaborated with Meliá Hotels International in bringing The Meliá Collection, a brand synonymous with excellence, to Lima’s Historic Center, a district with immense potential thanks to its architectural, cultural, and culinary richness, as well as its privileged location near the city’s main attractions.”
