Bookings open for Heritage Line’s new Bai Tu Long Bay voyage

Pearls of the Bay will offer an untouched alternative to busier Halong Bay

Heritage Line has opened bookings for its new luxury cruise itinerary entitled Pearls of the Bay, that will take travellers off the beaten path in northern Vietnam’s Bai Tu Long Bay.

The two-night journey through the bay – a lesser-known but equally stunning neighbour to the world-famous Halong Bay – will begin on 2 January 2026.

Located just east of Halong Bay, Bai Tu Long Bay is part of the same UNESCO-recognised region but remains largely undeveloped and little visited. The new itinerary is designed to showcase the bay’s natural beauty and cultural heritage while avoiding the crowds typically found on mainstream routes.

Pearls of the Bay will be operated exclusively aboard Violet, Heritage Line’s six-suite vessel. With its limited capacity and refined amenities, the ship is designed to provide an intimate, high-end experience in one of Southeast Asia’s most breathtaking landscapes.

“With this new route to Bai Tu Long, I hope we can change the way travellers experience and understand Halong Bay,” Heritage Line Sales & Marketing Director Andreas Schroetter said.

“Bai Tu Long remains the least touristy cruise area in the bay after Lan Ha Bay and feels very much like Halong Bay 20 years ago – original and peaceful.

“Combined with great service and private elements, this expedition-style short trip aboard the Violet is a unique product that reflects Heritage Line’s special positioning in this destination.”Rather than a fast-paced sightseeing schedule, Pearls of the Bay focuses on immersive and unhurried experiences. Highlights include kayaking around limestone karsts, exploring ancient caves with expert guides, and visiting a remote floating village where local families farm fish and cultivate pearls using traditional methods.

One of the itinerary’s signature moments is a stop at an isolated beach cove accessible only to Heritage Line guests, offering opportunities to swim, enjoy sunset cocktails, or simply relax in a pristine setting.

Heritage Line aims to position Bai Tu Long as a premium alternative to Halong, offering the same natural appeal minus the crowds.

Pearls of the Bay is priced from US$678 per person in low season from May to September 2026.
