A new airline rewards program comes to Australia

Passport Rewards is an airline-independent rewards currency

A new global rewards program is intending to turn traditional airline points schemes on their head. To that point, Passport Rewards has officially launched in Australia with a promise “to change the way people earn and redeem their frequent flyer points.”

Completely free to join, Passport Rewards is powered by Passport Points, an airline-independent rewards currency. Members can unlock rewards with Passport Points by transferring their points to top international airline loyalty programs to book points-based seats in economy, premium economy, business and first class.

How it Works

Launching in 21 countries, Passport Rewards connects users with a network of over 17,000 global retailers. From Sydney to London to New York, members earn rewards by linking their debit or credit card and shopping as they normally would. Specifically, over 300 retail partners offer Passport Points in Australia; among them is Woolworths, BWS, Myer, Bing Lee, Big W, Virgin Australia, Guess, Breville, Puma, Lenovo and more.

How do you earn points through these partners? Users can earn (for example):

  • Up to 4 Passport Points per dollar at Puma, The North Face, Kate Spade, and Koko Black
  • Up to 3 Passport Points per dollar at Breville and Supplement Mart
  • Up to 2.5 Passport Points per dollar at Myer and Bonds

When it comes to redeeming points, Passport Points shared a few examples of trips travellers can book. Those include:

  • 8,000 Passport Points for one-way economy class between Sydney and Melbourne
  • 31,500 Passport Points for one-way business class between Melbourne and Bali
  • 101,500 Passport Points for one-way business class between Hong Kong and Frankfurt

A Chance to Earn Points Faster

“Over the years, I kept hearing the same thing from travellers: they couldn’t earn points fast enough, or they were stuck in the wrong airline program,” said Passport Rewards founder Sid Raja. “Based on extensive research into how people earn, redeem and maximise their points, Passport Rewards is built from the ground up to solve that and put the power back in the hands of the traveller.”

Part of this approach is the “Points Accelerator,” which lets members multiply their points by up to 12 times each month. With this Passport Points claims you could earn a business class flight in only “a matter of months.”

Members can also “double-dip” by earning the reward points of their credit card as well as Passport Points every time they shop at their favourite retailers.
