Penny Spencer, Founder and Managing Director of Spencer Travel, has confirmed the sale of the company’s corporate travel division to LodgeLink, a Black Diamond Group company (that offers a digital marketplace for B2B crew accommodation, travel and logistics), marking a significant milestone in the businesses’ 26-year history.

The transaction follows a carefully considered decision by Spencer as part of a broader strategic restructure. Moving forward, Spencer Travel will operate as two distinct entities:

  • Spencer Group of Companies (SGC) – Corporate Travel Division
  • Spencer Travel Holdings (STH) – Leisure, Wellness, and Independent Contractor Model

“This is both a reflective and exciting moment for me,” said Penny Spencer. “After 26 incredible years, I’ve chosen to transition the corporate division to a trusted partner who shares our values and commitment to service.

“This evolution enables me to focus on the future of leisure and wellness travel, and to support the next generation of travel entrepreneurs through new and emerging business models.”

Founded in 1998, Spencer Travel has grown to become one of Australia’s most respected travel management companies, recognised for its award-winning service, client-first approach, and innovative spirit. The sale of its corporate division represents a natural progression aligned with shifting industry dynamics and traveller expectations.

“We are delighted to welcome Spencer Group of Companies to the LodgeLink family as we expand our full-service travel capabilities in Australia,” said Trevor Haynes, CEO of LodgeLink. “Penny has built a remarkable business grounded in quality service and industry expertise. We’re excited to work alongside the talented team she has assembled.”

The transition will be seamless for existing clients, staff, and suppliers, with a continued focus on delivering the same high level of service Spencer Travel is known for.

Spencer will work closely with the teams over the coming months and assume a position on the LodgeLink Australian Board lending her decades of travel industry experience to the growing and innovative platform.

Spencer Travel Holdings will retain a strong presence in the luxury leisure, wellness, and independent consultant sectors, continuing to champion experiential, curated travel and innovative agency models.

“I remain deeply committed to the travel industry. This isn’t a farewell — it’s the beginning of a bold new chapter focused on purpose-led travel and entrepreneurial growth,” Spencer concluded.
