LATAM Airlines Group will significantly boost its Australian operations with the launch of daily non-stop services to Santiago, Chile from both Sydney and Melbourne later this year.
The expanded schedule comes in response to a surge in demand and will be in effect from November 2025 to March 2026.
The Sydney to Santiago direct service, which resumed on 28 October 2024 after a pandemic-related pause, currently operates three times a week. As of November 2025, this route will increase to daily flights.
Similarly, the Melbourne to Santiago route which currently operates three times weekly, will shift to daily departures from December 2025.
“LATAM Airlines Group is proud to be the first stop for Australians in their South American adventures,” LATAM General Manager EMEA, Asia and South Pacific Thibaud Morand said.
“By offering daily departures from both Sydney and Melbourne, we’re giving our customers more flexibility, choice and convenience – whether they’re heading off on holiday or travelling for business.”

According to Morand, the increase “reflects growing demand for stronger links between Australia and South America, driven by both holidaymakers and the corporate travel sector.” Industry data supports this, with reports showing a 12% increase in passenger bookings from Australia to South America since the start of 2025.
The move will improve access to LATAM’s extensive network across South America, which includes 153 destinations in 27 countries including iconic cities such as Rio de Janeiro and Cusco.
Flight times are designed for seamless connections. “Thanks to convenient late morning and early afternoon departures, travellers from all corners of Australia can arrive in Sydney or Melbourne in the morning and seamlessly connect to our new direct services to South America the same day – no overnight layovers required,” Morand added.
All flights will be operated using LATAM’s fleet of Boeing 787 Dreamliners. The Sydney route will use the 787-9 Dreamliner, offering 30 Premium Business and 270 Economy seats, while Melbourne flights will alternate between 787-9 and 787-8 aircraft.I am text block.
