The launch of Cathay Pacific‘s non-stop service between Hong Kong and Rome marks the airline’s return to the Italian capital, reestablishing a key link between Asia and Europe.

The new summer seasonal route, operating until October 25 2025, is the fourth destination added to Cathay Pacific’s network this year. The launch makes Rome Cathay’s second city in Italy, joining Milan.

“Rome has long been an important destination for Cathay Pacific and a popular one among our customers,” Chief Customer and Commercial Officer of Cathay Pacific Lavinia Lau said. “We first launched flights to the city in 1986 and we are thrilled to be back once again connecting our home, Hong Kong, with the Eternal City.”

The service adds to the list of new routes for the airline in 2025. Earlier this year, it launched flights to Hyderabad, Dallas-Fort Worth, and Urumqi. Its sister airline, HK Express, has also introduced services to Sendai, Nha Trang, Ishigaki, Komatsu, Changzhou, and Yiwu.

“In addition to Rome, we will also be launching flights to Munich and Brussels this summer,” Lau added. “In total, we will be operating close to 100 return flights per week to 12 European destinations, providing our customers with even greater connectivity between Hong Kong and this important region.”

The Hong Kong–Rome flights operate three times a week on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays using the state-of-the-art Airbus A350-900. This aircraft features 38 flat-bed seats in Business Class, 28 in Premium Economy and 214 in Economy Class.

Flight CX293 departs Hong Kong at 00:30 and arrives in Rome at 07:35. The return flight, CX292, leaves Rome at 13:00 and lands in Hong Kong at 06:30 the following day.

In total, the Cathay Group will reach 100 passenger destinations worldwide in the first half of 2025, with more new routes expected to be announced soon.
