Mandarin Oriental Exceptional Homes has expanded its portfolio with the addition of Castello di Procopio, a restored 12th-century estate located in the heart of Umbria, Italy.
This marks the brand’s first property in the region, combining rich historical heritage with luxurious amenities.

Originally commissioned by Holy Roman Emperor Frederico Barbarossa, the estate has a storied past, including a Roman temple, a hermitage for Gregorian monks, and the foundation of the Church of San Pietro. The restoration was guided by original blueprints and historical records, with artisans meticulously reviving ancient stonework, vaulted ceilings, and intricate architectural details.
Set on 11 private acres of olive groves and vineyards, the estate features eight ensuite bedrooms that can host up to 16 guests.
Guests can enjoy personalised meals cooked by a private chef, relax in a vaulted spa suite, and take in sweeping views toward Assisi from the heated infinity pool. Activities include private film screenings, bocce under the cypress trees, and curated excursions such as wine tastings in Montefalco or visits to the Basilica of Saint Francis.“Every element of the experience has been meticulously considered to reflect the brand’s commitment to excellence and elevate the guest journey beyond expectations,” Demiroz said.
Nightly rates range from €5,000 to €22,000.
