More details have been revealed about the two new riverships that will join Tauck‘s fleet of riverboats in 2026, with the vessels to be named ms Serene and ms Lumière.
Both will sail on French rivers – while ms Serene will cruise the River Seine, ms Lumière will navigate the Rhône River.
The names for these ships were chosen from over 1,000 suggestions submitted by Tauck’s travel advisors, guests, and employees, with Tauck CEO Jennifer Tombaugh sharing the reasoning behind the selections.
“The name Serene is perfect for our new ship on the Seine, bringing to mind tranquility and rejuvenation,” she explained. “The River Seine evokes a spirit of calm and escape, as captured beautifully in paintings by Impressionist artists like Monet and Renoir.”

Meanwhile, the name Lumière, she added, reflects the Rhône River’s lively, fast-flowing character. “The Rhône is akin to a spark of inspiration,” Tombaugh noted, referencing Lyon’s famous Festival Lumière and Fête des Lumières, celebrating light and cinema.
David Clark, Tauck’s Managing Director for Australia, also expressed his enthusiasm. “Our two new ships, the ms Serene and ms Lumière, will be wonderful, new additions to Tauck’s existing fleet,” he said. “I’m confident that these ships will prove to be particularly popular with our Australian guests.”
Along with the names, Tauck has revealed artist renderings of the ships’ designs, showcasing luxurious features such as spacious suites, a wellness area, and an inviting Sun Deck. The ms Serene and ms Lumière will offer a variety of cabin types, with 80% of the cabins being 225 square feet or larger.I am text block. Click edit button to change this text.
