Mondrian Gold Coast will launch Australia’s first hotel ‘Beach House’ accommodation offering among room and suite inventory when the five-star property opens its doors in the first half of 2025.
The new lifestyle luxury hotel, first flagged in 2020, has begun ramping up hype for its forthcoming opening with the appointment of Élysée Collective as its local communications agency and Cocom as PR partner this month.
Mondrian Gold Coast will feature 208 rooms, 76 suites (all of which are fully self-contained with full kitchens, induction stove, convection ovens, washer/dryers, full-size fridge, cupboards), and a further 84 branded residences.
An exact opening date has not been announced as yet, however bookings are expected to open early into the new year.

Representatives for the luxe Burleigh Heads beachfront property were in Sydney this week to ‘talk shop’ about the upcoming opening at Luxperience 2024, held at the ICC Sydney.
Speaking with LATTE, Brad Mercer, General Manager said interest in the newest luxury hotel development on the Gold Coast was fever pitch with a strong pipeline of enquiries for events and conferences in 2025 and beyond.
Luxperience is the first time the property has been introduced to the market and Mercer said the uptake has been promising. “This is our beginning to showcase the hotel to a large audience,” he said.
Mercer, who has been in the hospitality industry for decades, says Mondrian Gold Coast will bring a fresh perspective to the “luxury lifestyle” term when its doors open.

“Mondrian is not your traditional five-star or traditional luxury hotel brand. Mondrian is rooted in local culture and community, appealing to design conscious travellers looking to immerse themselves in some of the world’s most exciting neighbourhoods,” he told LATTE.
“Each hotel stands as a tangible celebration of the distinctive spirit of its location, taking design cues from the surrounding streets and scenes and offering curated programming in collaboration with the most innovative local creatives and tastemakers,” he explained.”Bringing a new international brand to the destination – there are only 11 Mondrian’s in the world – each very unique, I think it’s going to warm to the Australian culture and I think it resonates really well with the Gold Coast local culture, while also targeting that international customer.”
“Mondrian Gold Coast is relaxed luxury with immersive experiences. Everything integrates. Guests will arrive at the restaurant and have an incredible time and they’ll end up staying at the hotel.”
Mercer said the unique design of the suites aims to be a luxury ‘home away from home’ with the comforts of a hotel means “guests can stay very comfortably for one or two nights, or stay for two weeks.”

Suites within the 24-floor property range in size from 80- to 320-square-metres. Some of those are venues themselves, suitable for conferences, groups or events. It’s very different to the traditional meeting room or conference space, he said. Some hotel suites can accommodate an 80-guest stand-up cocktail reception.
“Beautiful resort style homes and houses, fully-self-contained – whether it’s for family or friends, the property has the space and the capacity to accommodate.”
“I’ve been a hotel guy for almost 30 years and I’ve been super impressed with the design, the architectural element, how they’ve integrated all the spaces to be really immersive experiences. If you’re there for a conference, or an F.I.T. traveller or you’re just coming for dinner, it’s very cool.”

“We’ve received an overwhelming positive response from the groups and high-end incentive markets for the uniqueness of our events and conference spaces,” he said.
While Mondrian Gold Coast’s pièce de résistance will be its top floor Sky House (penthouse), the Beach House (of which there are two) “are the first of their kind in Oz,” he said.
At 240 sqm, the Beach Houses are double-storey homes, accessible on ground level and with direct private entry onto Burleigh’s iconic beach esplanade. Beyond which are Norfolk Pines and then the beach itself. Guests of the Beach House won’t check in at reception, or walk through corridors. Though there is a back entry for high profile guests wanting privacy.

Featuring private plunge pools, the two- or three-bedroom Beach Houses are also fully self-contained, with a main lounge, bar and kitchen on ground floor with vaulted six-metre high ceilings. Bedrooms at the rear of the suite, upstairs and downstairs, and the master bedroom overlooks the atrium, and out to the ocean. Both Beach Houses are positioned side-by-side and can be connected to create a 5-bedroom Beach House. They back on to the property’s Spa and are adjacent to the restaurant.
They are also envisaged to host private events for up to 30 people, with AV and ceiling microphones built-in.
