The St Regis on the Bund, Shanghai has opened its doors, taking the luxury hospitality brand’s tally of global properties to 60 and its Chinese portfolio to 13.

With views of the Huangpu River and the Pudong skyline, the lavish hotel’s Art Deco-style interior has been inspired by the rich culture and identity of Shanghai, with its exterior a collaboration between Norman Foster and Heatherwick Studio.

“The opening of The St. Regis on the Bund, Shanghai marks a pivotal moment in the brand’s expansion, as we celebrate the debut of our 60th property globally,” said Jenni Benzaquen, SVP and Global Brand Leader of The Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis, and Bvlgari Hotels & Resorts.

The St Regis on the Bund, St Regis’ second Shanghai address, has 192 guest rooms, with 13 suites, each with sweeping views of the surrounding area.

Its location near The Bund Finance Centre, in one of the city’s most historic areas, places it 17 kilometres from both Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station and Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport. Shanghai Pudong International Airport is located 41 kilometres from the property.

Marriott International Managing Director Luxury Greater China Bart Buiring welcomed the debut of the new property. “The Bund is a blend of Shanghai’s rich history and dynamic modernization,” he said.

“We are thrilled to continue the storied legacy of St. Regis with the debut of The St. Regis on the Bund, Shanghai, the thirteenth address in our expanding portfolio of St. Regis hotels in Greater China.”

Dining options include Chinese restaurant Celestial Court, The St Regis Brasserie and the New York-inspired St Regis Bar. Afternoon tea, light meals and refreshments are served in The Drawing Room where guests can also enjoy the nightly evening ritual of Champagne sabrage.

Meanwhile, the St. Regis Spa blends modern skincare technology with ancient wellness practices across three luxurious private spaces, each around 140 square meters each. It is also home to a 24-hour fitness centre for complimentary 24-hour access to state-of-the-art workout equipment.
