The ID Travel Group and SriLankan Airlines recently co-hosted an exclusive ID Insider Educational experience in Sri Lanka.
Hosted by Belinda Layt, ID Travel Group’s Associate Director Asia Pacific, in conjunction with Lisa Dosanjh, NSW Sales Manager for SriLankan Airlines, the trip focused on the southern regions of the teardrop-shaped island, and Galle was the first stop at Amangalla, located within the ramparts of the 17th Century Galle Fort, a UNESO World Heritage site.
Cape Weligama, with its collection of spacious villas and suites nestled within private gardens and spread across an elevated promontory overlooking the striking Indian Ocean, offered the advisors their chance to experience the first of three properties in the Resplendent Ceylon portfolio, the only Sri Lankan member of Relais & Chateaux.

Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort, sitting on a rocky outcrop on the southern coast of Sri Lanka near the old fort town of Tangalle houses the sanctuary, Anantara Spa with award-winning Ayurvedic treatments, a major highlight of the stay at this beautiful property.
Venturing into Yala National Park was a unique experience whereby the tropical beaches met exotic wildlife. The group’s explorations from Chena Huts and Wild Coast Tented Lodge with luxury accommodation on rugged, unspoiled beaches provided the perfect spot to search out the elusive leopard, elephant herds and is a paradise for birders.
Tientsin Bungalow, Ceylon Tea Trails, one of five restored classic plantation bungalows perched above Sri Lanka’s panoramic Ceylon tea plantations, was spectacular and the impeccable service makes it a perfect place for family and friends to meet.

Returning to Colombo, the group’s stay at Uga Residence, one of the most lavish boutique hotels in Colombo, was the ideal spot to explore the bustling commercial heart of Sri Lanka. The culinary experience in Colombo allowed the advisors to hone their skills in preparing the delicious dishes they had indulged in over the past week and shopping for exotic spices was the perfect ending to their adventure in this welcoming and diverse island nation.
