Bespoke travel service provider The Classic Safari Company is ramping up its domestic catalogue of Australian lodges, camps, walks and foodie experiences, creating a new collection of itineraries to explore the Top End, Kimberley, rainforests, tropical islands and gourmet trails in greater depth. There’s even a pub crawl in the mix!
“With international travel temporarily off the cards, and those employed in Australian tourism needing a helping hand, what better excuse is there to support the #holidayherethisyear movement?” The Classic Safari Company’s Ella Collins said.
Perhaps recognised by the travel trade more so for its diverse programs in Africa, South America and India, The Classic Safari Company has long offered experiences in its own backyard in Australia. Loyal clients who have a passion for similar wilderness, nature, gourmet food and rugged bush luxury they have sampled abroad with The Classic Safari Company tend to also supplement a few shorter domestic holidays with the same company between big overseas adventures every other year, which suits the same travel style they are familiar.
Julie McIntosh, Founder and Director of The Classic Safari Company, told LATTE the new portfolio emulates what the Sydney-based travel company has offered in Africa, South America and India “but with an Australian flare”.
“We are always trying to seek out the owner-operated and smaller outfitters, including private charter flights, for our unique program,” McIntosh said.
There are currently four trips available departing from Darwin, Cairns, Broome and Adelaide. The range comprises the following:
- Six-day Top End Immersion in Kakadu and Arnhem Land that is split under canvas learning the ways of Aboriginal land and at Bamurru Plains in a luxury safari-style wilderness lodge.
- Eight-day Blissful Private Island Isolation in Queensland – a “pure isolation” experience in Far North Queensland that includes stays in the Daintree, in the outback Mt Mulligan Lodge and four nights at the five-star Haggerstone Island.
- 10-day Remote Coasts, Cattle & The Kimberley (with an optional True North cruise extension) that ventures to North West Australia, staying in a historic outback station, explores Chamberlain Gorge and spends two nights on Bullo River to taste some true outback hospitality.
- 12-day Gourmet South Australia & The Flinders Ranges trip that is centred around wine, wildlife and walking – including the four-day expedition-style Arkaba Walk.
In addition to these itineraries, The Classic Safari Company is preparing to debut a quintessential pub crawl. Targeted at small groups of buddies “wanting an adventure with a difference”, the five-day Great Aussie Pub Crawl will allow up to eight mates to visit a handful of iconic pubs by charter plane. The Classic Safari Company is also selling onto The Tasmanian Walking Company’s hikes to Cradle Mountain, Wineglass Bay and the Bay of Fires.
