Ahura Resorts, the operator of Fiji’s Likuliku Lagoon Resort and Malolo Island Fiji, is now offering a range of experiences on an uninhabited private island. Having acquired the lease of Mociu Island in 2018, the luxury resorts are able to offer exclusive arrangements for guests of Likuliku Lagoon Resort, Fiji’s original home of the overwater bungalow.
Mociu (pronounced ‘Moor-thiew’) Island – also known as Honeymoon Island – is a tiny, private island only 15 minutes by boat from the resort. It is a protected nature reserve and the waters and reef around it have been declared a marine ‘na tabu’ by the Paramount Chief of the Mamanucas, meaning no form of fishing or shell fish collecting is allowed.
Mociu Island is for the enjoyment of Ahura Resorts’ guests only and will also be used to further develop and expand the resorts’ environmental initiatives, including dry forest restoration, coral, clam and other marine transplanting and preservation, as well as other biodiversity protection.
Access to the land is by invitation only, and it can be used for special events for up to 10 people.
