Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours says its Discovery Yacht, Scenic Eclipse, remains on track for delivery in mid-August 2019, despite bankruptcy proceedings opening this month at the Croatian shipyard where the vessel is currently receiving its finishing touches.
In a statement to LATTE, Scenic said it had “negotiated an agreement with the court-appointed bankruptcy trustee to ensure the work on Scenic Eclipse continues uninterrupted until her completion and delivery”.
“The ship will then head to Reykjavik, Iceland for its inaugural cruise on August 15,” Scenic said.
The Australian travel company said the bankruptcy development at the Uljanik shipyard in Pula comes after a breakdown in negotiations between the recently chosen strategic partner, Brodosplit Shipyard and the Croatian Government. The strategic partner is a consortium comprised of the Croatian DIV group and Italian Shipyard Fincantieri.

“Scenic Eclipse continues to remain on schedule for its first sea trial in early June after its completion of the dry dock work last week,” a Scenic company spokesperson told LATTE.
“We are saddened by the loss of jobs at the shipyard as we have developed a wonderful relationship with many of the hard-working men and women there and hope that a court-determined resolution is found in the near future.”
When it launches, Scenic Eclipse will set a new benchmark in design, innovation and luxury. With its commitment to world-class safety, sustainable tourism, innovation in design and quality appointments, the Scenic Eclipse offers guests the opportunity to discover the world in all-inclusive luxury. It continues to be Scenic’s primary focus.
