A festive and interactive programme awaits travellers this New Year at Six Senses Douro Valley. Educational, entertaining and relaxing experiences are lined up from 24 December 2015 to 3 January 2016. All the secrets about the Douro, its wines, and grape varieties will be disclosed.

A wine course, a master class on hot drinks and a workshop on homemade jams produced with delicious local fruits and herbs are the ideal complement for a relaxing stay where the spa will play a major part.

The gastronomy, the wines and the music

Chef Paulo Matos and his team have prepared a full gastronomical experience for the New Year’s Gala dinner. A special dinner and babysitting services has also been prepared for our younger guests. The Vale de Abraão restaurant and its open fire will be the setting for this dinner.

A local traditional musical group, ‘4 Wine’, will play revival Portuguese pop music hits at midnight and, from 2am onward, DJ Diogo de Sousa will keep the party alive.

On New Year’s Day, a delicious ‘Day One Brunch’ including several cold and hot dishes, as well as healthy and vegetarian options, will be served. This will be followed by a ‘Five O’clock Tea’ for children and grown-ups at the Quinta Bar and Lounge between 3 and 6pm.

Six Senses Spa Douro Valley

A generously proportioned Six Senses spa occupying 2200sqm features 10 treatment rooms, heated indoor pool with water jets, vitality suite and a gym with the latest exercise equipment complemented by professional guidance.

The spa features a selection of locally inspired specialty treatments, using local herbs and fruits, together with an extensive menu of other Six Senses signature therapies. Expertly trained therapists create sensory journeys for guests with a range of holistic wellness and pampering treatments. There is something for everyone, from multi-day wellness programmes, Yogic Detox and Yogic Sleep programmes, and a selection of activities such as yoga, aerial yoga, pilates and forest circuit training.

Weather permitting, meditation pods located in various places throughout the forest will be the perfect meditation or reading spot.
